History Fair Success

Students had a successful evening of presenting their history fair research to parents and the Woodstock community on Thursday. Students completed their research through partnership with mentors coordinated by the Woodstock History Center.  




Sound Wave Codes

Students have been studying sound waves and sound codes in science. Students designed a musical instrument and a secret code in the STEM lab. Peers had to interpret and communicate messages using their secret codes.

TED SCHEU THE POETRY GUY!

On Friday, WES had a visit with poet Ted Scheu to kick off National Poetry Month. We learned many writing tips from Ted and had a chance to work on our own rhymes and poems.

HISTORY FAIR BEGINS

On Monday we embarked on our history fair research. Students are working in teams of 3-4 with a community mentor to research a part of Woodstock history.

This group visited the town hall to look into the deeds for Woodstock's Poor Farm from the 1830s-1930s.

OWLS WITH FOUR WINDS

We were fortunate to have Rene, Julie, and Beth, our Four Winds parents, come and teach us about owl structure and function, owl calls, and owl pellets. We even got to dissect pellets and identify remnants found in the pellets.

Rube Goldberg Energy Investigations

We recently studied the transfer of kinetic energy from object to object in Rube Goldberg machines and made our own energy transfer systems in the STEM lab.

We are studying energy in 4th grade! Today we made circuit quizzes and tested out the quizzes made by our classmates.
